I have been working for 17 years as an artist and in that time I have made a lot of work, not all of it successful. So, I decided one day to transform some of my older, less resolved work into something else rather than throw it away. This idea resulted in a series of work specifically geared for a nursery or kid’s room. I first drew some basic animal silhouettes and cut them out of beautiful colored paper. Then I collaged the negative and the positive shapes on to the existing older paintings. Both my children responded really well to work so I knew I was on to something. The idea also stemmed from my belief that we should all be surrounded by art in our homes and especially in our children’s bedrooms.
